Everything in our world is in a constant state of becoming.
Cycles are - like gears of a gigantic clockwork - driven by an interplay of opposites.
This rhythm of creation and destruction is not only manifest in the turn of the seasons,
or in the birth and death of all living creatures, but is also the very essence of inorganic matter.
The universal law of periodicity, with its inherent duality, is a central theme of
the installation "The pilgrimage of the 13 blood moons".
Made from recycled materials and menstrual blood it is both spiritual as well as political in nature.
All throughout the year of 2018, it has been exhibited at every full moon. 2018 a year with 13 full moons.
The exhibitions were accompanied with a full moon ritual celebrated by
Month after month, moon after moon, each exhibition has been a unique experience, taking place at a different and unexpected location.
From the churches of Berlin, to the deep forests of Brittany and the shores of the Atlantic ocean, the 13 Blood Moons were on a pilgrimage.
The journey took them further to Teufelsberg - ex U.S. Spy Station - Berlin and to several other singular places, before they came back, 2019, to Teufelsberg "The Devil“s Hill", where they have now found a home in a permanent exhibition.
